Abstract
376,407. Fire- and water-proof fabrics. FUCHS, F., 78, Schottenfeldgasse, Vienna. April 24, 1931, No. 12236. [Class 140.] Fibrous material such as fabric is first impregnated with wax, pitch, asphalt, aluminium soap or other waterproofing agent, and is then treated with a mixture of a waterproofing agent and a substance developing fireextinguishing gases on heating. The waterproofing agent may be wax, pitch, asphalt, drying oil, aluminium soap or rubber, and the fire-extinguishing substance may be ammonium sulphate, ammonium chloride or ammonium phosphate. The ammonium salt may be mixed in powder form with the waterproofing agent, or may be mixed therewith in the form of an aqueous emulsion.
