Abstract
An alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate with or without an alkali metal chloride, is added to a chlorate, so that the risk of fire is minimized when organic materials such as wood or cloth become impregnated with a solution of the chlorate when the latter is used. Compositions consisting of 95 per cent sodium chlorate and 5 per cent sodium carbonate, and of 50 per cent sodium chlorate, 5 per cent soda, and 45 per cent sodium chloride are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 6431/96, and 28807/97, [both in Class 9].
