Abstract
Caking of dry fire-extinguishing powder consisting mainly or wholly of sodium bicarbonate is hindered by treating the powder with a soap solution and then drying and sieving it. The solution may be incorporated uniformly with the powder by spraying. If the extinguishing powder comprises, in addition to the bicarbonate, a crystalline salt or salts, such as borax or sodium carbonate, the ingredients may be treated separately or after mixing.
