Abstract

Anhydrous borax or microcosmic salt is mixed with a water repellant, such as an insoluble metal salt of a higher fatty acid, e.g. magnesium stearate. Optionally phosphates may be included to improve the free-flowing properties of the mixture for use as a fire-extinguishing composition.
