Abstract

A dry cleaning composition comprises (a) a nonionic solvent especially a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent such as per- or tri-chlorethylene, which contains (b) a polyvalent metal salt of an alkylaryl sulphonic acid; and (c) a nonionic surface active agent. (b) is suitably calcium or magnesium dodecylbenzene sulphonate or calcium dibutyl- or nonyl-naphthalene sulphonate, while (c) is generally an alkyl- or alkylphenolpolyglycol ether. (b) and (c) normally together comprise 2-4 g. per litre of (a).
