Abstract

470,232. Preserving wood. BOLIDENS GRUVAKTIEBOLAG. Jan. 2, 1936, No. 3095/37. Divided out of and addition to 468,378. [Class 140] An impregnating solution for wood and like materials contains alkali bichromate, e.g. sodium bichromate, arsenic acid, a zinc salt, e.g. zinc sulphate or zinc chloride, and sodium arsenate or compounds yielding sodium arsenate such as mixtures of soda and arsenic acid or arsenic oxide. The arsenic present as sodium arsenate is preferably between 20 and 50 per cent of the total arsenic content of the solution. The solution may be made by dissolving sodium arsenate or its equivalent, the bichromate and arsenic acid either separately or together and adding the zinc salt cither solid or in solution.
