Abstract

Potassium sulphate is crystallized and separated from the manganese chloride solution resulting from the interaction of manganese sulphate and potassium chloride in aqueous solution. The manganese may be separated as chloride or as hydroxide by precipitation with a suitable hydroxide; or the hydroxide may be converted to the oxide. The manganese solution may be recycled for further interaction.ALSO:A fertilizer containing potassium, manganese, sulphate and chloride ions is produced as a byproduct in the preparation of potassium sulphate and manganese chloride from potassium chloride and manganese sulphate in aqueous solution.
