[Class 90] Sulphur is prepared by interaction of sulphur dioxide and sulphuretted hydrogen in the presence of water-soluble alkali metal compounds as catalysts (such as sodium oxide, sodium sulphide or sodium carbonate) and at temperatures below 350 degrees.
