396,569. Beams ; floors; reinforced concrete. ZOLLINGER, F., 22, Am Stadtpark, Merseburg, Germany. Sept. 16, 1932, No. 25784. Convention date, Sept. 17, 1931. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv).] Beams formed of sheet steel and applicable as joists, reinforcements for concrete, studding and like bracings are formed with a tubular flange 20 along the lower edge, and tongues 30, 30<1> bent out from the upper edge. The flange 20 may be filled with plastic material in which a rod is embedded, and tongues 16 may also be turned out from the web. As applied to floors or roofs, the beams are spaced apart by rods 50, and support brackets 60 for shuttering 61 ; or T-shaped bars 91, notched along the sides of the flanges, may be passed through holes 11 and secured therein by wedges 92 to support the shuttering. The tongues 30, 30<1> may support and secure expanded metal floor reinforcements. The exposed part of the beams may be covered with fire-resisting material, or a ceiling may be suspended therefrom. The beams may be used in a similar manner for the construction of walls of tanks, bins, and silos.
