Abstract

394,766. Ladders. L'HOLLIER, L. J., 39, Pease Avenue, Pendower, Newcastle-on- Tyne. March 10, 1932, No. 7152. [Class 20 (ii).] A bracket for affixing the treads to the side members of step ladders comprises a plate or a pair of plates attached together, said plate, or one or both of the attached plates, having a horizontal flange for attachment to the tread, the bracket being provided also with a pair or two pairs of vertical end flanges for attachment to the side members. In the form shown, the bracket comprises two plates riveted together, the outer and inner plates being formed respectively with horizontal flanges C, F, which are secured to the treads by screws passing through holes D, G. The end flanges A, E embrace the side members of the ladder to which the bracket is secured by screws. The plates may be formed of galvanized steel plates and may be welded or otherwise secured together. Alternatively, the bracket may be cast in one piece. In a modification, the flanges E are dispensed with and the flanges A embrace the outer faces of the side members of the ladder.
