[Class 99 (i).] In a ball-and-socket joint the diameter of the socket c is gradually increased from the ball seat d and then gradually decreased to the dameter of the pipe, so that fluid flowing in the direction shown and with the pipes in their extreme angular position will flow in a curved path without eddies.
