[Class 108 (i).] In road vehicle roofs of the type provided with a longitudinal central fixed part and side openings adapted to be closed by sliding sections which, when in open position, are housed beneath the fixed part of the roof, the sliding sections consist of slats which are connected together by one or more pliable coverings and the edges of the section are provided with flexible metallic bands adapted to slide in guides on transverse roof members. Fig. 2 is the plan of a roof showing the central fixed part K, sliding sections H, transverse members B and cant rails D. The sections H comprise adjacent slats h<1> housed in pockets formed by stitching the outer and inner pliable coverings h<2>, h<3> Fig. 5, an outer waterproof covering h<6> being provided, the edges h<7>, Fig. 7, of which are turned down to enter the channel in the transverse ribs B. Flexible metal band strips G secured to the edges of the sections Hare adapted to slide in guides F, f<1>. The central fixed part comprises cant rails k<1>, Fig. 5, carried by brackets E from the members B so as to provide a space to house the sliding sections H. The inner edge of the section H and the outer edge of the fixed roof K are provided with packing strips &c. P, Q. The fixed central part may be wide enough to house the sections when abutting or the guides of the sections on opposite sides may be displaced so that the sections when open overlap.
