Abstract
391,699. Stuffing-box substitutes. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 21, 1932, No. 29426. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1931. [Class 122 (v).] Leakage of oil from a gear box 1 into an electrical machine 3 is prevented by a chamber 13 communicating at 20 with the air and sealed by felt rings 15, 16 at both sides. A sleeve 11 rotates with the shaft and is threaded at 12 to return leakage to the gear box. In a modification, Fig. 2, the chamber is formed by a metal stamping 8 and an oil-throwing disc 23 is disposed therein. The disc is secured to the shaft by a sleeve 25 threaded on its periphery 12. Felt packings 26, 27 seal the chamber at each side. An oil-throwing disc 19 is mounted inside the gear box.
