Abstract

391,471. Vehicle spring suspensions. NEIMAN, A., 19, Erftstrasse, Cologne, Germany. Oct. 8, 1931, No. 27987. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1930. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii).] Spring suspension systems applicable to motor vehicles, cycles, cycle saddles, and the like employ several rubber tension springs of different lengths in combination with slidable guides and fluid friction dampers. In the application to the front fork of a motor cycle, Fig. 2, the axle r is connected to rods a sliding in tubes d forming the fork. The connections z pass through slots in the tubes. Endless rubber tension springs l of different lengths are interposed between the bar g connecting the upper ends of the rods a and the cross-bar h secured to the tubes d and come into action in succession. The lower ends of the rods a carry pistons b which work in damping cylinders with oneway valves u secured to the lower ends of the tubes d. In a motor vehicle steering suspension, Fig. 4, the swivelling axis a slides in and supports the fork m on the end of the main axle o by rubber tension members j, a fluid damper l being provided.
