Abstract

787,819. Road-vehicle shock-absorbers. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Oct. 24, 1955 [Oct. 22, 1954], No. 30371/55. Class 108(3) The mounting of a shock-absorber in a vehicle road wheel suspension, comprises a wheel-guiding link 10 formed with an opening 29 for the passage of the shockabsorber, and a joint pin 19 connecting the shock-absorber to the link 10 by means of bearing brackets 21, 22, which are detachably fastened on the side of the link 10 opposite the shock absorber, and extend with their bearing eyes through the opening 29, so that the pin 19 lies on the same side of the link as the shock absorber. To facilitate assembly the brackets 21, 22, pin 19, and sleeve 18, are produced as a unit, and are fitted to the link 10 by passing the shock-absorber 16 through the opening 29, and securing the brackets 21, 22, to the link 10 by means of bolts 26, 27. - The brackets 21, 22, are located on the pin 19 by reduceddiameter collar-forming end-portions 19a 19b, the ends 24, 25, of which are afterwards riveted over as shown. The brackets 20, 21, may alternatively be made in a single piece, or may be joined by a reinforcing strap 31. The other end of the shock-absorber may be connected to a bell-shaped member as described in Specification 663,448.
