Abstract
388,987. Spray carburetters. BARLOW, O., 16, Napier Street, Mornington, Dunedin, New Zealand. July 7, 1932, No. 19222. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 8, 1932]. [Class 7 (iii).] To prevent waste of fuel through the pilot passage when the throttle is closed and the engine is being over-run, a movable member 10, Fig. 1, is provided and subjected, through a passage 1 on the engine side of the throttle 4, to the depression in the induction passage. The member 10 carries a needle valve 19 adapted to control the fuel passage 7 of the pilot conduit 6 the outlet of which is located adjacent the edge of the throttle in its closed position. The member 10 is open at its upper surface to atmosphere through an aperture 12, and is loaded by a spring 16 bearing against a plate 17 on an extension 18 of the spindle. In a modification, Fig. 2, the control is effected by a waisted piston 10 loaded by a spring 16 and open at its lower end to atmosphere through a vent 21. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a passage 23, Fig. 2, which, when the piston is raised, places the fuel conduit in communication with the atmosphere and thereby prevents the formation of a vacuum and the passage filling with fuel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
