Abstract

Spray carburettors.-The casing comprises two intersecting passages, 1 containing a spring- loaded piston type throttle valve 2, and 4 containing a sliding tubular spring-loaded valve 8, a rounded projection 21 on which contacts with a cam surface 20 on the throttle valve. The passage 4 is connected to the induction pipe at 3 and at its other end has peripheral air inlets 22 controlled by the valve 8 and other air inlets 26 controlled by a hit-and-miss valve 24. The throttle valve is actuated manually by a lever 15. 16 and rod 18 and its movement determines the position of the valve 8 which, in addition to controlling the air, may control fuel also or mav control fuel alone. For this purpose the nozzle 6 may be flush with the casing and the slot 23 of the valve 8 may slide over it. An additional air inlet 28 may be provided towards the engine side of the valve. Instead of the valve 8 moving automatically in accordance with the movement of the throttle valve, the valve 8 may be the manually actuated valve. The valves are so actuated that a rich mixture is obtained at small and full throttle openings and a weaker mixture at intermediate openings.
