[Class 38 (iv).] A condenser used to compensate the inductance of a conductor is shunted by an inductance containing iron which saturates when the potential drop across the condenser becomes excessive and thus limits it. An iron-containing choke may be connected to the condenser terminals or the condenser may be in the secondary circuit of a transformer in series with the conductor.
