388,842. Slicing-machines. ADLERWERK A. SCHWEFER GES. and SCHWEFER, A., 12, Hindenburgstrasse, Witten, Ruhr, Germany. Oct. 5, 1931, No. 27599. [Class 28 (ii).] In a slicing- machine, an abutment or guide bar 4 is fixed to the machine frame so as to extend along the side of the gauge plate 2 and over the knife cover or guard plate 5, the bar 4 being recessed to accommodate the plate 5. Jamming of the machine by foodstuff passing between the plate 5 and the knife 6 at the point where the knife passes beneath the plate, is thereby prevented. The bar 4 may be transversely divided, and both parts may be secured directly to the machine frame, or one part may be secured to the plate 5 and thus indirectly to the frame. Alternatively, the bar may be secured, as a whole, to the plate 5 and extend along the side of the gauge plate. The invention is applicable to machines having vertical or horizontal disc knives.
