Cutting slices in succession.-A potato-slicing machine comprises a fluted cylinder a, attached to or integral with a drum c, having transverse slots g in which coincidently fluted knives h are secured, and pockets to receive potatoes. The top of the machine is covered by an inverted channel guard i which is interrupted to accommodate the pockets j. The slices are projected into the cylinder a and are collected by a fluted shoot l having a flange l<1> which is situated remote from the cutting-positions in order that the slices may lose some of the velocity of projection before contacting with the flange.
