Abstract

388,766. Valve amplifying circuits. ASSOCIATED TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH CO., 1033, West Van Buren Street, Chicago, U.S.A. Sept. 1, 1931, No. 24568. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1930. [Class 40 (v).] The input volume to a thermionic amplifier is controlled while presenting a constant impedance to the incoming circuit by means of a transformer having a three-limbed core. The flux through the secondary 11 is controlled by a variable resistance 9 which by short-circuiting winding 7 deflects flux from the limb 3 to the limb 6 and therefore from the secondary 11 to reduce volume. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the primary winding is wound on the centre limb and the volume adjusting windings on the outer limbs one of which also carries the secondary winding.
