Abstract
352,772. Valve amplifying circuits. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Aug. 11, 1930, No. 24027. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1929. [Class 40 (v).] A method of volume control designed to preserve a correct balance of tonality, as perceived by the ear, over a wide range of absolute sound intensity, comprises an impedance network 6, 7, C, L, which may be shunted across the primary or secondary windings of the intervalve transformer 2. The voltage is applied to and taken off from the impedance between one of the ends of the resistance and a variable tapping 9 on the resistance 6, 7, the elements C, L preferably being made resonant to the band of frequencies to which the human ear is most sensitive. The inductance L and capacity C may be replaced by a number of similar resonant combinations arranged in parallel across the potentiometer 6, 7.
