Abstract

Telephonic repeaters.-A speech amplifier comprises two or more magneto-microphonic relays, the microphone of one of which is connected through a condenser to the primary of a transformer whose secondary is connected to the primary winding of the succeeding relay. The varying currents from the microphones 10 of relays 8a and 8, pass through condensers 21 to the primaries 17 and 13 of transformers 16 and 12 respectively, chokes 20a and 20b being interposed in the leads from the common battery 19, to isolate the latter from speech currents. The secondaries 18 and 14 of transformers 16 and 12 respectively supply the primary winding 9 of the second relay 8, and the loud-speaker 15, respectively. In another modification (Fig. 2, not shown) a separate battery is used in each microphone circuit, a choke and condenser performing the same functions as the chokes and condensers of Fig. 1. The transformers preferably have a high ratio, and one or more of the stages may be directly coupled to the succeeding stage.
