388,315. Flexible shafts. JOLINE, E. A., Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Aug. 12, 1932, No. 22619. [Class 80 (ii).] A flexible shaft 9, more particularly for driving a speedometer, fit s snugly in its casing 10 which forms a continuous bearing for it throughout its length, the shaft ends 20 being swaged to diminished square, polygonal or other non-circular rigid form so as to have direct driving engagement in similarly-shaped sockets in the coupled parts 15. The maximum diameter of the shaft ends is not greater than that of the shaft 9 so that they can be drawn through the casing. The latter is attached to the speedometer and transmission housings by nuts 27 engaging flanges 26 on the casing.
