Driving arrangements ; tappet-shafts.-A tappet shaft A is made out of a plain length of shafting, preferably bright drawn mild steel, which is screw-threaded at both ends and provided with lock-nuts B<2>, Fig. 2, at the free end and the usual nut B<1> at the driving-wheel end. By taking off the lock-nuts B<2>, the shaft can be withdrawn and replaced without dismounting and re-aligning of the bearings. A clamp-nut such as B<3>, Fig. 4, may be used instead of the looknuts.
