Material, special. -A self-lubricating bearing comprises an inner member a cf hard fibre which has been impregnated during the process of manufacture with a lubricant, such as by being boiled in a mixture of oil and graphite or other lubricant, and a steel shell b in which the inner member is inserted and the ends c of which are pressed over. Perforations d or serrations in the member a are filled with graphite and grease or other lubricant. The invention may be applied to thrust bearings. Specifications 144,493 and 148,733 are referred to.
