Abstract

464,920. Lubricating porous bearings. KRAMER, E. Oct. 21, 1935, No. 29024. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1934. Addition to 458,829, [Group V]. [Class 12 (iii)] The bearing described in the parent Specification is modified by forming the metallic bearing body by compressing and sintering powder or chips lying in an order of magnitude limited on the one hand by a 30-mesh screen, and on the other hand by a 60-mesh screen, and in lieu of impregnating the body with oil or other lubricant, water or aqueous liquid is employed for the lubrication. The lubricating liquid may be supplied continuously or in such quantities that a slight heating of the slide surfaces and a gradual evaporation of the water occurs. Potassium and sodium lyes and other solutions having a higher viscosity than water may be utilized. Alternatively colloidal solutions of graphite, talcum, and other materials may be used. Specifications 279,995, [Class 12 (ii)], and 458,832, [Group V], are referred to.
