Abstract

Railway and like continuous chain, rope, rod. and shaft.- Casings for Bowden cables &c. which pass through mounting supports at or near the ends thereof, as shown in the case of a Bowden brake coupling between a hauling vehicle and a trailer, are provided, at one or both ends, with a universal mounting in the form of a bulbous ended sleeve 6 adapted to engage a cupped recess in the mounting 5. The sleeve is threaded to screw along the coils forming the casing 2 and has a split tapering extension 8 adapted to be contracted on the casing by a nut 9 which may be locked b ya grub screw or a second nut. The mounting may be formed with a slot 7 to facilitate assembling and such slot may be tortuous or curved to prevent accidental dislodgement. Lugs on the mounting support may engage recesses in the mounting surface to prevent tilting &c. The transmission member may pass through the mounting surface.
