410,184. Towing vehicles, boats, &c. BENNETT, J. F., Gordon Cross House, Dronfield, Derby, and WARD, H. R., Goltho Hall, Wragby, Lincolnshire. Nov. 14, 1932, No. 32085. [Class 78 (ii).] A towing connection which automatically takes up slack comprises a coil of flexible steel strip A secured to an axle B mounted in a casing C, D. The casing is provided with a shackle G<1> and the free ends of the towing strip projects from the casing between rollers E and is provided with a shackle G<2>. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the shackle G<1> and the axle B are mounted on a pair of side bars and the casing is free to revolve about the axle B. In either form the towing strip A may consist of a weaker portion forming the towing length connected at its inner end to a stronger portion which is secured to the axle and serves to take up shocks.
