Abstract

387,868. Sectional-boiler furnaces. STREBELWERK GES. MANNHEIM, 62, Hansa Strasse, Mannheim, Germany. April 2, 1932, No. 9505. Convention date, April 4, 1931. [Class 51 (i).] The grate of a sectional boiler is formed of closed water channels b disposed side by side to form a hollow block supported independently of the lateral sections a, a<1> of the boiler, the space h within the block forming an air duct and the sides of the block forming inclined grates. The sections b are of triangular form corresponding in depth to the boiler sections a, a<1> and are connected together and to the water spaces of the end sections of the boiler by nipples c, c<1>. Air for combustion enters a duct i beneath the grate through a flap in the end wall of the boiler and passes between the lower parts f of the grate sections to the duct h enclosed by the sections, and thence to the fuel which is supported upon the inclined sides. Additional air enters through apertures n in the boiler sections, is heated in passages p below the waste gas flues o and issues to the combustion chambers q above the inclined grates. To vary the depth of the fuel layer plates m suspended at r on the end boiler sections may be adjusted. The fuel falls at l on to lateral grates k in the duct i. The grate sections bare supported by a girder e and held together by anchor bars d.
