Abstract

387,140. Tyre - gaiters. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, FELLOWES, F. and DAW, R. F., Fort Dunlop. Birmingham. Feb. 25, 1932, No. 5647. [Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii).] A tyre-gaiter 1 is secured by means of a chain 3 which is connected to one end of the gaiter, passed through a lug on the other end, strained by a lever 14, and locked by a detent 11 engaging a link of the chain. The lug shown comprises pairs of arms 6, 7 connected by pins 9, 10 respectively on which the detent 11 and a sleeve-roller for the chain are mounted. The operating-lever 14 comprises jaws 15 adapted to fulcrum on the wheel-rim, and an oppositely-facing lug 17 which is entered into successive links of the chain in assembling the gaiter.
