Tread bands.-A non-skid device comprises a pair of side-chains A, B, and a continuous crosschain C formed of twisted links with interposed straight links D which are connected to the sidechains by split or welded links E. The sidechains may also be formed of twisted and straight links. A device (not claimed) for connecting the ends of the side-chains comprises a. lever G which is attached to one end of the chain, passed through a link at the other end, and' locked by a shackle H.
