Abstract

303,018. Wire Cord Hose Pipe Co., (Assignees of Weigel, D. M.). Dec. 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Tread bands.-In non-skid bands comprising cross-members 12 connected by side-chains, the latter are formed of alternate metal and inextensible rubber links, the rubber links being arranged to prevent contact between the metal links and the side-walls of the tyre. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the rubber links 14, which may be reinforced by wires or metal braid, are looped around metal links 13 connected by hooks 21 to the tread members 12. The ends of the sidechains may be adjustably connected by a rubber &c. strap 17. In a modification, the members 12 are connected directly to the links 13, thereby avoiding any metal-to-metal contact. The tread members shown consist of moulded rubber bands with reinforcing wires 20 and other wires 22 embedded end-on to the tread surface. Specification 288,116 is referred to.
