Jan. 15, 1920 Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A. tread band, capable of creeping around the tyre in use, comprises spaced sections 9 formed of rubber with reinforcing-fibre 8 and connected by wire links 30, Fig. 1, or links and rings 40, 41, 42 asshown in Fig. 7. The edges of the tread sections are reinforced as by fabric 4 and wires 5, the ends of the latter being bent as shown in Fig. 2 to form bights for the connecting-links. Air-spaces areleft between the treads and the tyre, above enlarged edges of the treads.
