226,472. Wildman, L. A., and Wildman, J. W. Nov. 19, 1924. Tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A skid - preventing device consists of transverse chains comprising thin flat links 10 of uniform dimensions provided with two sharp road-engaging points separated by a recess and connected by pivots 9 passing through the adjacent ends of contiguous links directly inwardly of the road-engaging points. The chains may be independently secured to the tyre by straps, or by means of circumferential chains 1 to which the transverse chains are connected by metal links 6. The edges of the links 6 are formed with upstanding flanges 8 which taper to the outer ends. The ends of the chains 1 are connected by a pivoted hook 2, a link 3 and a keeper 5.
