R. ; 8519, 80th Street, Jamaica, Long Island, New York, both in U.S.A.) April 17, 1931, No. 11428. Convention date, April 18, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 130.] The carded brushing-drum 40 of a tobaccofeeding machine is driven continuously at different speeds which are predetermined. In the construction shown in Fig. I, the drum 40 is driven through chains 46, 50, 54 from an eccentric sprocket 43, driven through a countershaft 44 of the cigarette-making machine. An idler sprocket 68 carried by a weighted arm 67 takes up slack in the chain 46. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the drum 40 is driven through chains 54, 59, 155 and gear wheels 152, 151 from an eccentric gear wheel 150, a spring loaded arm 63 maintaining the gear wheels in contact with each other. Tobacco is fed to the carding-drum 18 by belts 14, 17, the belt 14 being provided with spaced partitions 19 which are removed by cams 20b.
