Abstract
386,501. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London. -(Assignees of Hansell, C. W. ; Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) April 26, 1932, No. 11993. Convention date, May 27, 1931. [Class 40 (v).] In an amplifier A having a drooping characteristic a thermionic shunt 20, 22 is provided to the input 12, and so arranged that its impedance increases at the input energy level at which distortion would occur, by an amount sufficient to correct the distortion. Fig. 5 shows a shunt pair of valves 20, 22 arranged to have their impedances increased by the cessation of the flow of anode current during a portion of the voltage cycle impressed from circuit 12 on the anodes. To increase the cut-off effect of the anode potentials a rectifier 31 may be used to vary the grid bias voltages from energy taken from the amplifier input circuit 12. The rectification may be produced in' the grid circuits of the shunt valves, Fig. 6 (not shown), by providing condenser paths to the grids of these valves from the circuit 12.
