Abstract
386,136. Detachable installations. BRITISH MOTOR BOAT MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. and HARRISON, C. H., 24, Harrison Street, London. Feb. 1, 1932, Nos. 2944 and 20595. [Class 114.] A self-contained steering and propelling unit for motor-boats has its propeller 3 carried by a vertical column 7 suspended in a casing 5 attached to the bottom of the boat, the upper part of the column carries a sprocket wheel 9 which is connected by a chain 15 with a sprocket 14 attached to the shaft 11 carrying a bevel wheel 13. This bevel wheel meshes with a second bevel wheel 17 on a steering column 16. Alternatively, the chain-and-sprocket gear may be replaced by bevel wheels on the shaft. Preferably gear ratio between the steering wheel and the column is 1-1.
