Abstract
157,814. Maximo-Ges. Schneidenbach & Co. March 20, 1919, [Convention date]. Driving-arrangements for screw propellers. - Pedals a, Fig. 1, bevel wheels c, d, and pinions e - - i, are used to drive a shaft k which is connected by universal joints or by a flexible shaft with the propeller shaft. The spur-pinion shafts are mounted in two standards on a base adapted for attachment to the boat hull, and the complete gear is enclosed in a light metal casing. One or more sets of gear in tandem may be used. The seats may be adjusted in position relatively to the pedal cranks; in one form the seats have cross bars l, m, Fig. 2, which can be fitted into notches in two fore-and-aft members n.
