Abstract

1306438 Float supported craft A SORRENTI 12 March 1970 [13 March 1969] 11809/70 Headings B7A and B7V A float-supported marine craft has a central hull 2 pivotally suspended between two parallel floats 1 to which it is connected by articulated rod structures 7, 8, 9, 10, with the central hull arranged to be in the air. Drive screw 14 extends downwardly from the hull into the water and four rigid beams 3 are secured to each float, connected upwardly in pairs so as to form four inverted U's facing one another and connected to two transverse beams 4. The central hull is supported by these beams 4 through shaft 5 which extends longitudinally above the hull and to which the hull is pivotally mounted. The articulated rod structure connects the shaft to the beams through crank 7 carried at each end of the shaft, the arrangement being such that any deviation of the hull from its vertical position increases the distance between the floats which increases the supporting basis of the craft on the water surface. In the embodiment described drive screw 14 is located between two baffle plates 17 serving as rudders, the combined driving and steering unit being fitted in a tubular housing.
