Abstract

384,520. Submarines. MARTINOLI, F., 18, Via Luzzatto, Trieste, and GEROLIMICH, E., Via V. G. Bonavia, Monfalcone, both in Italy. March 31, 1932, No. 9332. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1931. [Class 113 (ii).] A submarine mine layer is provided with wells 3 along the centre of the ship for carrying mines 5 and along the major part of the hull the section of the submarine is formed by two similar circular arcs. These are symmetrically disposed on either side of the vertical centre line of the hull and each subtend an angle a greater than 180‹, that is the centres d of these arcs are disposed on either side of the vertical line. In addition to a central midship row of mine wells other rows on either side of these may be provided. Each well is combined with a compensation tank 6 having flooding and deflooding mechanism. Bow and stern torpedo tubes 4 are also fitted.
