[Class 140.] A sound and heat insulating panel formed with a body of long vegetable fibres, such as wood fibres or shavings, agglomerated by a binder, such as cement or plaster, has a facing layer adhering directly to the body without the use of an independent adhesive. The facing layer may comprise a mixture of vegetable fibre and vegetable pulp, such as coarsely pulped wood, or a mixture of mineral fibre with cement or plaster, such as fibro cement, e.g. cement mixed with 5-20 per cent of amianthus fibre. The binder used in the body may comprise 60 per cent calcined magnesia and 40 per cent magnesium chloride.
