Abstract

A building board comprises a porous water-proof core made from a filler, an alkali silicate and a bituminous substance and faced with liners. The core may be made by heating to 300 DEG F. a mixture of 60.5 per cent. limestone, 33.3 per cent. sodium silicate and 6.2 per cent. petroleum asphalt. The liners may be felt, chipboard, kraft paper or asbestos and may be impregnated with a bituminous substance. Specification 551,701 is referred to.
