537,386. Compound sheet materials. SHIMIZU TRADING CO., Ltd. Jan. 12. 1940, No. 717. Convention date, May 26, 1939. [Class 140] A material for heat and sound insulation comprises a pair of plates 1, 3 made by immersing a layer of straight deer hairs in a mixture of resin solution and rubber latex and pressing with strips 2 of similar material interposed at spaced intervals 6 between the plates, and a paper facing 5 adhered to one of the plates by means of an adhesive 4 composed of sodium silicate, casein and rubber latex. The deer hairs are previously treated with caustic alkali solution and a fire-proofing agent such as ammonium sulphate, ammonium phosphate or boric acid.
