Abstract
Incombustible, heat-, sound- and electrically-insulating linings, plates and mouldings are made of a mixture of the following substances, the proportions by weight given being the preferred ones: 65 parts of asbestos fibres, 15 parts fluosilicic acid, 8 parts sodium silicate, 20 parts mica flakes, some water, and 15 parts algolite (slate which has been heat-treated and then ground, and which comprises aluminium silicate and magnesium oxide). The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the following subject-matter: mica powder or flakes is mixed with a binder and a filler to make linings, mouldings, "cardboard," decorative papers and plasters. e.g. a lining is made of 2 parts of gelatine, 10 parts of animal glue, 25 parts of mica flakes, 50 parts of asbestos (grains or fibres) and 13 parts of crushed slate; a decorative paper consists of 3 parts of paper pulp and 1 part of mica; a "cardboard" consists of 5 parts of fecula glue, 5 parts of resin, 10 parts of algolite, 10 parts of crushed vegetable fibre waste, 20 parts of asbestos fibres, 5 parts of asbestos grains, 5 parts of crushed slate, 15 parts of mineral wools, 10 parts of calcium carbonate, 15 parts of powdered mica and some water; and a plaster composition comprises 200 parts of sized plaster, 60 parts of mica flakes, 20 parts of rubber, 40 parts of asbestos fibres, 20 parts of cork and some water. As binding agents for the mica are mentioned also casein and dextrine, and as fillers pumice, brick, gypsum, woodpulp, and carborundum. To render the articles damp-resisting, potash, soda, magnesia, zinc salts, and alkaline silicates may be added, as well as a preserving agent for the glue such as sodium orthophenylphenate; and potassium bichromate can be added to the glue to produce washable linings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises the use of sodium orthophenylphenate as a preserving agent for glue. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
