Abstract

383,359. Emergency-exit fastenings. YANNEDIS, P. C. and SHATTOCK, J. R., (trading as YANNEDIS & CO.), 25, Theobalds Road, London. Sept. 26, 1931, No. 26884. [Class 44.] A "panicbolt " fastening comprises catches A (one shown) pivoted on the door and swung into and out of engagement with keepers E by pin- and-slot connection c with sliding bolts D. Members D are biased to retracted position by springs d2 abutting at one end against a pin d<1> on the bolt and at the other against a fixed guide and stop b2 in a casing B. Each bolt is provided with a toggleoperating mechanism comprising links f, f<2> pivoted together at f<1>, link f<2> having a fixed pivot h, and link f being pivoted to the inner end of the bolt. The bolts are simultaneously operated by a crush-bar K carried by a slider G common to both sets of links and having pin-and-slot connection f<3> with each link f<2>. The catches may be held withdrawn when the door is open by a pivoted catch m<1> adapted to engage a, shoulder d<3> of the bolt member, the catch ml being released when the door is closed by a sliding member N having a bevelled end normally projecting above the door so as to be driven in by contact with keeper E when the door is closed. Pivotal movement is imparted to catch m<1> by an inclined groove n in member N engaged by a pin m2 on catch m<1>.
