Abstract

382,811. Seats ; spring surfaces. WOLPERT, E., 6, Traubenstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Jan. 14, 1932, No. 1174. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iv).] A seat, suitable for use in motor cars or aircraft, consists of transverse rails for the seat and back to which strip springs are attached, with means for connecting the free ends of the springs. Two frames 1, Fig. 1, are spaced apart by transverse rails 2, 6. The outer rails 2, 6 are attached respectively to downwardly and rearwardly extending strip or band springs 7, 8, the free ends of which are riveted together and gripped in a channel member 12. Alternatively the free ends of the springs are attached to two polygonal rods 25, 26, Fig. 7, which are engaged in links 29 having a number of corresponding openings 28 to provide adjustment. The spring surfaces 7, 8 may be upholstered, and an upholstered arm rest 13 may be provided. The back may be made adjustable by providing each frame 1 with a joint 4.
