Abstract

Calcined magnesite or hydrated magnesium oxide is mixed with fibrous material preferably in the beater of a paper or board machine, and the mixture after sheeting is impregnated with zinc chloride solution. Boards may be built up from laminations, the impregnation being then applied to the laminated product. A suitable mixture consists of 40 parts of asbestos, 33 of organic fibre, 25 of magnesite, and 2 of starch.
