Abstract
The grid of an electric discharge tube consists of an alloy of nickel and tantalum containing up to 30 per cent, and preferably 20 per cent, of tantalum. The surface is oxidized by heating in air and the nickel oxide is reduced or vaporized during exhaustion of the tube by induced high-frequency currents.
