Abstract
320,876. Dicker, S. G. S., (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). July 23, 1928. Vacuum tubes.-A rectifving discharge. tube consists of an indirectly-heated cathode surrounded by at least two cylindrical axially - spaced anodes. The cathode of a fullwave rectifier, Fig. 1, is surrounded by anodes 2, and consists of a seamless metal tube 3, coated with barium oxide 4 and having a narrow portion 5. A heater, in the form of a coiled tungsten wire 7, is enclosed in a quartz tube 6, and has its ends connected respectively to the portion 5 of the cathode and to a conducting support 10 through a metallio rod 8. The anodes may have cooling ribs and may be of a substance, e.g. zirconium, which. when heated, is capable of absorbing gases. The tube may be exhausted or contain a gas filling, e.g. a mixture of argon and mercury. Specification 295,343 is referred to.
